The space agency smashed a rocket and a probe into a large crater at the lunar south pole, hoping to kick up ice.

One researcher described the find as the equivalent of "a dozen two-gallon buckets" of water.

I had to make this post, being a wannabe scientist, I find the implications of this discovery pretty amazing.

I seen your tweets about it. Like you said, it was even worth Google changing their logo in recognition.

The two great things I see about this is that life may be sustainable by humans on the planet by using the water for drinking and fuel. This leads to being able to travel even further distances in space, as refuels for air etc can be made.

I guess the other thing is that where there's water, there's life. So if life is possible on a planet with a surface drier than any desert on earth, then this discovery increases the chances of there being life on other planets.

Amazing discovery that didn't get as much press coverage as it should have. I guess most people dont get how important these sort of discoveries are.
