(West/South West) Councillors have requested a meeting with city planning chiefs to discuss concerns a new development could lead to a further surge in traffic in a residential area.

Chancel Lane in Pinhoe has seen a 76 per cent rise in traffic since the opening of the £3.9m Monkerton link road. Now residents are worried plans to build more than 100 homes on the site of a former storage depot could mean another increase in drivers using the road.

Cllr Saxon Spence today asked that members of the Exeter highways and traffic orders committee hold a meeting with Exeter City Council planning officials to find out what highways improvements were proposed as part of plans to build the 122 homes. (West/South West)
